“Fear”
Baggage—Part 6
1 Samuel 17
September 22, 2013
When The Giants In My Life Make Me Fearful, I Must:
1. REFOCUS MY ATTENTION.
“On hearing the Philistine’s words, Saul and all the Israelites
were dismayed and terrified…Whenever the Israelites saw the
man, they all fled from him in great fear.” v 11, 24
2. REFIGURE MY APPROACH.
“David said to Saul, ‘Let no one lose heart on account of this
Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.’” v 32
Remember The Presence Of God. v 26, 37
Register The Probability Without God. v 33
Recall The Past Experience With God. v 34-37
Relish The Power Of God. v 38-40, 45-46
Recite The Purpose Of God. v 47
3. REFINE MY ACTIONS.
“As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly
toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and
taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the
forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown
on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a
sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the
Philistine and killed him.” v 48-50
4. REFUEL MY AUDIENCE.
“…When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned
and ran. Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a
shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath and to
the gates of Ekron. Their dead were strewn along the Shaaraim
road to Gath and Ekron. When the Israelites returned from
chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp.” v 51-53
