October 20, 2013
1. THE REALITY OF DOUBTS ABOUT JESUS.
“John’s disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of
them, he sent them to the Lord to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to
come, or should we expect someone else?’” v 18-19
2. THE REASONS FOR DOUBTS ABOUT JESUS.
“When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the
Messiah…” Matthew 11:2a
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed,
but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down,
but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
3. THE REACTION TO DOUBTS ABOUT JESUS.
“When the men came to Jesus, they said, ‘John the Baptist sent us
to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we
expect someone else?’” v 20
4. THE REMEDY FOR DOUBTS ABOUT JESUS.
“At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses
and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he
replied to the messengers, ‘Go back and report to John what you
have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those
who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised,
and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.’” v 21-22
“Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his
disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are
written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son
of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
John 20:30-31
5. THE REASSURANCE OVER DOUBTS ABOUT JESUS.
“Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” v 23
